HAL Migration Planning
Hyperion Application Link (HAL) was the main integration tool delivered by Hyperion Solutions to develop, deploy and support legacy Hyperion products such as Hyperion Finanacial Management, Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Essbase and others.
A graphical programming tool HAL was deployed with a set of application programming interfaces (APIs) that provided metadata and data load functionality for its products. If you implemented HAL with one of these many products, you understand the important role that data integration plays in your Hyperion environment. It is the cog in the engine that supplies your systems with each months data from multiple source system and in many cases supports and maintains your system hierarchies. Without this tool your applications would be useless. Maintaining a well structured and solid data integration environment is vital to your software's continuing ROI. If that tool were to malfunction, the proverbial "cog stopped working", then your systems would fail to produce the data analysis and reporting capabilities you rely on. Could this happen? Would you be able to support the tool on your own in the long run? Are you being proactive and have a plan in place to stop such a scenario?
This scenario is not so unrealistic. As of today, HAL is no longer delivered as the integration tool for Oracle Hyperion products and will not be supported long term. HAL Premier Support ends June 2009 and Sustaining Support for HAL ends in June 2010.
CheckPoint is offering a proactive approach for migrating your current HAL integrations to a new platform. We will work with your team to understand your current integration environment, identify any gaps in the current solution and develop a plan for migrating to a supported product. We have developed a structured plan to address your concerns and help you plan for the inevitable, a migration from HAL to a new integration tool. Our migration plan consists of the following sessions:
- Discovery Session - initial call to discuss and plan a review
- Review Session - In depth review of current HAL environment identifying gaps
- Develop Plan for Migration - Detail document with recommendations
- Deliver Results - Review assessment and go-forward strategy
Through business process templates and pre-defined agendas and documents (developed by our experts), our migration plan has been developed to be efficient, provide valuable insight and deliver results that will facilitate your decision making.
